2024 US presidential election

Who is actually in your political feed?

During the ten weeks before the 2024 US election we collected every post from 140 of the most-followed political creators on X, Instagram and TikTok, and classified all 51,006 of them. This is what the American political creator landscape looked like from the inside.

Campaign rhythm

Ten weeks of posting, day by day

Daily post volume across all 140 accounts, from 1 September to election day and the morning after.

The creator map

Every account, placed by how partisan it is and how much politics it posts

Each mark is one account. Left is Democratic-leaning, right is Republican-leaning, and higher up means a larger share of that account's posts were political.

Who they are

Nearly half arrived already famous

Political creators are not all creators of politics. Some built an audience on the platforms themselves; others walked in with one, from a newsroom, a screen career or elected office. Journalist-origin accounts turn out to be about as one-sided as creators who built their following on politics.

Attack or advocate

Who tears down, who builds up, and who only ever picks one side

Every account sits somewhere between attacking opponents and advocating for its own side, and almost all do some of each. Each mark below is one account, coloured by which side it leans to. Click any account to read the actual posts behind its position.
